By this time you should recognize that today is your new day. The old things of yesterday have passed away, and all things have become new for you. You are in Christ, and therefore you are holy – today!
As you know, the word “holy” means “set apart.” When you were saved, you were set apart from the world. This means that even though you are in the world, you are not of this world.
While Jesus walked on this earth, He had a very clear image of Himself. He knew exactly who He was. You can see this so clearly in the following Scripture:
“And He said to them, ‘You are from beneath; I am from above. You are of this world; I am not of this world.” John 8:23 NKJV
When you were saved, an amazing transformation took place. The Holy Spirit set you apart from this world and placed you in Christ. Now you are no longer of this world. From this day forward, your identity is in Christ. He is not of this world, and neither are you. He is of God, and Heaven is His home. This is true of you, as well. You can see this so clearly in the following Scripture:
“. . . because as He is so are we in this world.” 1 John 4:17 NKJV
This also means that, when you were saved, this world was no longer your home – Heaven became your home. Your citizenship is now in Heaven!
The Apostle Paul wrote:
“FOR OUR CITIZENSHIP IS IN HEAVEN, from which we also eagerly wait for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ.” Philippians 3:20 NKJV (emphasis mine).
Have you ever said this to yourself: This world is not my home – Heaven is now my home? Try saying this out loud. When this becomes real to you, you may find yourself saying this out loud more and more each day.
This is the image you should have of yourself. If you see yourself this way, the world, and the things of the world, will no longer appeal to you the way it did before. Instead the things of God, and the things of Heaven, will constantly draw your attention and be your greatest desire.
This is why the Apostle Paul wrote:
“If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God. Set your mind (your imagination) on things above, not on things on earth. For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God.” Colossians 3:1-3 NKJV.
This is how the Holy Spirit wants you to picture yourself at all times: In Christ, at the right hand of God in Heaven! That is why I wrote in an earlier post that physically you are here on earth, but spiritually you are in Christ in Heaven. You are not of this world. You are holy, dear saint!
