Today is your new day, dear saint, and If you earnestly desire to please God in your life, you need to understand what kind of life pleases God the most. Then learn to practice those things on a daily basis until they become second nature to you.
Let me share with you four kinds of saints that please God:
Those who are quick to repent.
Those who are quick to forgive.
Those who are quick to obey.
Those who are quick to humble themselves.
First, it is so important to be quick to repent before God – and also before others! As you know, the moment we know that we have missed God, we need to confess it instantly as sin. The moment you confess that sin, the Lord is faithful to forgive you, and to cleanse you from all unrighteousness, so that you stand before Him pure, clean and glistening white in His sight. This is a wonderful position to always maintain before the Lord!
Next you need to repent of any lifestyle that is displeasing to God. You need to shake it off forever and disown it, as if it never belonged to you in the first place. This is how you live a holy life before God!
And, when you know that you have sinned against others, you need to be quick to repent before them, and ask them to forgive you. This means you need to be quick to admit you were wrong, and say you are sorry for your conduct. This is a life that pleases God!
Now just as you are quick to ask for forgiveness, you must also be quick to forgive. Jesus said it this way:
“But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.” Matthew 6:15 NKJV (see also verse 14).
Now that is a good reason to be quick to forgive others!
Let me also say that, if someone does something that offends you, do not allow yourself to be offended – forgive that person instantly! If you practice this, you will be amazed how easy it is to love people just the way they are. Try it, and make it a regular practice in your life.
Now those who earnestly desire to please God must be also quick to obey God. The prophet Samuel expressed this to Saul, when he said:
“Has the Lord as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the Lord? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to heed than the fat of rams.” I Samuel 15:22 NKJV (see also 1 Samuel 15:1-35 for this whole narrative).
Again, that is a good reason to learn to be quick to obey God. This means you need to train yourself to recognize His voice and obey God instantly. Be quick to obey!
Finally, if you desire to live a life that is pleasing to God, you need to learn to be quick to humble yourself. The Apostle James wrote:
“Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and He will lift you up.” James 4:10 NKJV.
Have you ever noticed that no where in the Bible are you told to ask God to make you humble? Instead you are told to “humble yourself”. This is a major key to walking in humility and living a life that is pleasing to God. You need to learn to humble yourself before God and to also humble yourself before people.
Learning to be quick to humble yourself is the key to living a life of humility. You may be interested to note that those who are humble are also quick to repent, quick to forgive and quick to obey. As you can see, it is a quality that would please God the most.
You are holy, dear saint!
