In order to live a life of victory every day, it is so important that you start your day on the right track. Yes, from the moment you get out of bed you need to position yourself for victory. What you do the first thing in the morning will set the course for the rest of your day.
Let me ask you a question: Do you make room for God first thing in the morning? In order to do that, you need to go to bed early so that you can get up early, and have the time to dwell in the secret place with your Heavenly Father, the Lord Jesus and the Holy Spirit.
If you are not familiar with the term “the secret place,” consider the following words of the psalmist:
“He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High, shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.” Psalm 91:1 NKJV.
You may think that this expression is only found in the Old Testament. However, Jesus also referred to this secret place:
“But you, when you pray, go into your room, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is in THE SECRET PLACE; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly.” Matthew 6:6 NKJV (emphasis mine).
There is a secret place where you can hide in His presence. It is where you develop the presence of God and engage with His presence. There was a great saint, by the name of Corrie ten Boom, who called it “The Hiding Place.”
The psalmist also referred to this “Hiding Place:”
“You are my hiding place; You shall preserve me from trouble; You shall surround me with songs of deliverance.”
Psalm 32:7 NKJV.
This is where you need to start your day – in His presence! He is your dwelling place, and you are His dwelling place. He humbles Himself to dwell in you, and He exalts you to dwell in Him. How amazing is that?
More than anything else you need to know His tangible presence. Then you need to spend time at the start of your day dwelling there. Give yourself time so that you are not rushed. You want to enjoy His presence, just as He enjoys yours, (Yes, He loves spending time in your presence). This is a time where you mutually enjoy the presence of one another. There is nothing else on earth that can compare to the time you spend alone with Him!
When you shut yourself in with God, invite the Holy Spirit to come. You already have the Holy Spirit in you, but it is amazing how He comes and envelopes you with His presence and glory. It is in this presence that you commune with your Heavenly Father, and with the Lord Jesus.
It is in this secret place that you want to dwell with Him and commune together. It is a place of light and revelation, where you grow in your knowledge of who He is, and who you are in Him.
This is also your hiding place, where you are renewed and strengthened for what you will face through your new day. He is your hiding place, so learn to hide in Him. He is your place of refuge from everything the enemy may send your way.
You are holy, dear saint!
