Your Guardian Angel

Did you know that you have an angel?

Maybe you have heard that you have your own personal angel, but you may not know where that is taught in the Bible.  We find this truth in the words of Jesus:

“At that time the disciples came to Jesus, saying, ‘Who then is greatest in the kingdom of heaven?’

“Then Jesus called a little child to Him, and said, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, unless  you are converted and become as little children, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven.  Therefore whoever humbles himself as this little child is the greatest in the Kingdom of heaven’ ” (Matthew 18:1-4 NKJV).

As His saints, this a very important lesson to learn: The key to being great in the Kingdom of Heaven is to learn to humble yourself at all times.  This is the one who is great in God’s eyes!
Now Jesus had something more to say about this little child:
“Take heed that you do not despise one of these little ones, for I say to you that in heaven THEIR ANGELS always see the face of My Father who is in heaven” (Matthew 18:10 NKJV, emphasis mine).

Jesus said that each child has an angel who always beholds the face of the Father who is in Heaven.  In fact, your angel has been watching over you for your entire life.
In addition to this, as one of His children, God has assigned an angel to minister to you and for you.  The writer of Hebrews wrote about these angels:
“Are they not all ministering spirits sent forth to minister for those who will inherit salvation?” (Hebrews 1:14 NKJV).

When did you get this angel assigned to you?  When you were born, and he has never left you, even though you may be a full-grown adult.
Jesus had angels assigned to Him as a baby.  Who can forget all the accounts of the angels watching over Jesus in the Christmas Story?   However, even as an adult, Jesus needed angels to minister to Him.  One account occurred after Jesus was tempted by the devil in the wilderness:
“Then the devil left Him, and behold, angels came and ministered to Him” (Matthew 4:11 NKJV).
What many people don’t realize is that the angels constantly ministered to Him the entire time He was on earth.  Jesus indicated this when He said to Nathanael:
“Most assuredly, I say to you, hereafter you will see heaven open, and the angels of God ascending and descending upon the Son of Man” (see John 1:51 NKJV).
What were the angels doing when they were ascending and descending upon Jesus?   They were ministering to Him and with Him and for Him!  They were actively involved in every aspect of His ministry.
Even at the end of Jesus’ ministry, while He agonized in prayer in the Garden of Gethsemane, the angel came to minister to Him:
“Then an angel appeared to Him from heaven, strengthening Him” (Luke 22:43 NKJV).

If Jesus needed an angel to minister to Him while He was on earth, how much more do you need your angel to minister to you?   He is with you all the time to keep you in all of your ways, as the Psalmist wrote:
“For He shall give His angels charge over you, to keep you in all of your ways” (Psalm 91:11 NKJV).

The King James Version reads: “to guard you in all of your ways.”  That is where we get the term “guardian angel.” The angel watches over you, keeps you and guards you.  The more you depend on God to protect you and keep you, the more your angel works on your behalf to keep you from harm and evil.
The hosts of Heaven, God’s mighty angels, minister to you, with you and for you in everything you do, as you stand upon the promises of God’s Word.  This because they are God’s ministering spirits.  The Psalmist wrote:
“Bless the Lord, you His angels, who excel in strength, who do His word, heeding the voice of His word.  Bless the Lord, all you His hosts, you ministers of His, who do His pleasure” (Psalm 103:20-21).
You may be amazed to know that every time God has protected you in some difficult situation, He did it through an angel.  In fact, I believe you may have seen an angel in human form on many occasions in your lifetime and you didn’t even realize it.  The writer of Hebrews wrote:
“Do not forget to entertain strangers, for by so doing some have unwittingly entertained angels” (Hebrews 13:2 NKJV).

Yes, often the strangers you pass from day to day are angels.  Why do I believe this?  It is because the angels are ministering spirits sent by God to minister on behalf of those who are heirs of salvation.  They have been sent to minister to you, and they are actively involved in doing that every day.
You are holy, dear saint!
